December 2016 Play! by Sephora Unboxing

Hello everyone! It's finally time for my Play! by Sephora unboxing for the month of December. Play! by Sephora is a $10/month beauty and makeup subscription service. They send 6 samples each month, along with a PLAY! BOOK of tips and tricks, and a PLAY! PASS for in-store learning. You can take the PLAY! PASS into any Sephora store, and use it to earn an additional 50 points with any purchases made. There is a waiting list to join; however, it does open up for everyone from time to time. Just continue to check in, and add your email address to be notified once it does!

As I just mentioned, each box comes with a Play! pass, which you can take into stores to learn more about the products you received. If you make a purchase, and hand this card over at that time, you will receive 50 extra Sephora points added onto your total.

When you open up the Play! book, it gives you a detailed look at all of the products that you received. I love this part of my box, because it tells you how to use each product, and even provides tips and tricks on how to make it work the best for you!

Also, each month, you will receive all of your goodies in a cute little bag! I normally don't care much for these bags, but the one this month is really cute!!

Each month, there will be a variation in the items that subscribers receive. This month I received the box ending in 816.

I really didn't think I would like this perfume when I read that it has hints of rose in it, but I actually ended up loving it. It has hints of rose, geranium, and vetiver. It smells sexy, yet sophisticated without being too over-powering. Definitely perfect for a night out.

This reminds me a lot of the Benefit POREfessional face primer. It smoothes my fine lines, fills in my pores, and leaves my face looking nice and smooth. My foundation laid nicely on my skin, and even though it doesn't claim to keep your skin matte, it did help control my oils. I will definitely be picking up the full size of this once my sample runs out!

I have had several of these cream lip stains on my wish list for some time now, but I've never gotten around to purchasing any of them. That's why I'm so happy that I received a sample of one in my box this month.

This is a beautiful true red color. The formula is nice and creamy, and it applies evenly to my lips. It dries down matte, yet doesn't feel overly drying on my lips. It lasted for hours on my lips without needing to reapply. It works just as well as some other more expensive brands out there. I will definitely be purchasing more of these!!

Here is a swatch of the cream lip stain.

This is my holy grail makeup setting spray, so I am always up for receiving more of it! It has a nice, fine spray, which applies evenly to my face. It helps keep my makeup on my face all night long! I have yet to find a setting spray as good as this one is.

I have used this mascara in the past, so I already knew that I was going to love it! It gives my lashes fantastic length and volume, without making them look too clumpy. It also doesn't flake on me throughout the day.

I really like the applicator on this as well. It has a curve to it, that lifts your lashes, and gives them even more volume. I'm really happy to have another sample of this.

I have been wanting to try this dry shampoo for quite some time now, so thank you Sephora for including this in my box this month! It has a pleasant scent to it, and it really does help zap any excess oils in my hair. Luckily it doesn't leave behind a white residue like so many other dry shampoos do . I wish the sample size was a little bit bigger; however, once it runs out, I will be repurchasing a full-size of this!

That is everything that I received in my December Play! By Sephora box. What items did you receive this month? Let me know in the comments section below, and if you haven't already subscribed to my blog, please do, so you don't miss out on future reviews and unboxings.

December Ipsy 2016 Unbagging

Hello everyone! It's finally that time of the month where I share what I received in my Ipsy glam bag. Ipsy is a $10/month subscription service, that sends out 5 different beauty items per month. It is generally more makeup items; however, they also throw in some skin care and hair care items, as well. Each month subscribers will receive their items in a cute little makeup bag.  You can review the items you receive for points, which you can then redeem for items on their website. Continue reading below to find out what I received this month. This post contains referral links.

Each month subscribers receive a cute little makeup bag with all of their products tucked inside. The bag this month is so cute!! I love that it is a wristlet!

I have heard great things about this lip treatment, so I'm happy that I received this. It has a very thick consistency, almost like Vaseline.  I used it for the first time last night before bed, and when I woke up this morning, my lips felt extra soft and hydrated. A little bit goes a long way, so I suspect this sample will last me quite a while.

I love getting brushes in my subscription services. This one is suppose to be used for concealer; however, I see myself using it more for packing eyeshadow on the lid. The bristles are nice and soft. I can't wait to use this more!

I can always use a good black eyeliner; however, I feel like I've been drowning in liners lately. This particular one is very pigmented, and it dries quickly. It has a nice precise tip, as well. I will definitely use this, but I need to make it through some of my other liners first. Swatches are below.

I love NYX eyeshadows, especially the ones from the prismatic line.

They are nicely pigmented, and have a creamy formula. They apply nicely to the lids, as well. My only complaint would be that I was hoping for a different color. I have so many colors like this already. I will definitely be purchasing more shades though. Swatches are below.

I love the Tarte Tarteist glossy lip paints. They are richly pigmented, and they last for several hours on my lips. This is a beautiful berry shade, which is perfect for the winter time. Swatches are below.

Above are swatches of the Aurora Eyeliner, Tarte Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint, and the NYX Prismatic Eyeshadow.

I completely forgot that I redeemed some of my Ipsy points for this beauty. It is a beautiful highlighting brush, with a great size. The bristles are nice and soft, and it does a great job of applying highlighter to my face. You could also use it for applying powder to the under-eye area. So happy with this! Plus this only cost 250 Ipsy points!!!

The overall value for my bag this month is $53.29, and I only paid $10!!!

Tarte Tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Palette: Swatch and Review

Hey everyone! I feel like it has been forever since I've done a swatch and review for y'all, so when I received my Tarte Tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Palette in the mail, I figured I'd review this for everyone.

I follow a lot of beauty bloggers on Snapchat, so when I saw that some of them were invited to Bora Bora (hello dream vacation!!) by Tarte, I was super excited to see what new goodies would be released, and luckily this palette was one of them.

Above is the outer packaging that the palette arrived in. Nothing too fancy. Just clean and simple, which is nice.

I'm not too sure if the packaging on the actual palette is something that I will enjoy though. It has a matte black front casing, with a gold back casing, and gold lettering.

I can already see the smudges on the front of the palette, and I've only used it a handful of times so far. I would have much preferred something that would have been a little bit easier to clean.

Inside the box, I also received a little insert that tells me how to do 4 different eye looks using this palette. I always like getting these, especially when I'm in a funk, and can't come up with something on my own.

I noticed that after using this palette, that the formulation of the shadows are very similar to the formula of the shadows in the Tarte Tartelette 2 In Bloom Palette, which is another palette I love from Tarte.

Here are both of those palettes together, for a side-by-side size comparison. The PRO palette is bigger; however, you do receive 8 more shadows in the PRO palette, versus the In Bloom palette. The pan sizes in the In Bloom palette are bigger though.

You receive a huge mirror on the inside, which is a big plus in my book. I actually do use the mirrors that come in my palettes, so it's nice when there is a big one.

This palette contains a total of 20 eyeshadows, with 16 matte shades and 4 duo-chrome shades. I have all of the shadows swatched below. Keep in mind that these are FINGER swatches only, and they are done with NO primer on underneath them.

Starting at the top of the palette, the first row of matte eyeshadows are:

Classic (cream)
Innocent (soft peach)
Whimsy (brick)
Smoked (dark brown)

The color Whimsy reminded me a lot of Dogman from the Tarte Swamp Queen Palette; however, when I swatched them side-by-side (swatches of these two are below) they were definitely different.

The second row of matte eyeshadows are:

Vintage (ivory)
Fierce (cool plum)
No Filter (purple mauve)
Vamp (deep plum)

The third row of matte eyeshadows are:

Chic (pale pink)
Profesh (taupe)
Mod (deep cherry)
Drama (maroon)

The fourth and final row of matte eyeshadows are:

Indie (greige)
Bold (light brown)
Edgy (chocolate)
Punk (black)

The above picture are the four duo-chrome eyeshadows in the palette.

Ethereal (bronze)
Glam (champagne)
Minx (shimmering mauve)
Trendy (prismatic teal)

After swatching the duo-chrome shades in this palette, I will say that the only true duo-chrome shade in here is Trendy. The others are mainly just shimmer shades. I also noticed that there are several dupes out there for the color Trendy, which I will have below.

Above is Whimsy swatched next to Dogman, which can be found in the Tarte Swamp Queen Eye and Cheek Palette. After swatching them next to each other, you can definitely see a difference. Dogman has fine glitter in it, and it is also a deeper burnt orange color. I did a full swatch and review of the Swamp Queen Palette, which can be found here. It has been relaunched on the Tarte website, and retails for $45.

The above picture is Trendy swatched next to several dupes. The dupes that I have in my makeup collection include:

Other dupes for this color include:

I noticed very little fall-out with any of these shadows, and the fall-out I did notice was mainly with the darker matte shades. They all blended like a dream, and were very easy to work with. As for the shimmer/duo-chrome shades, they looked absolutely stunning when I used my finger to swatch them, and even when I applied it to my lids. However, when I tried to use a brush to apply the shimmer shades, they barely showed up!! I had to use a wet brush and really pack it on there to get any color pay-off from those 4 shades. I would simply recommend using your fingers to apply the shimmer shades.

Overall, I would have to say that this palette is a definite win for me. I have always loved the formulation of the Tartelette palettes, so I knew I would probably like this one, as well. It retails for $53 dollars, and can be found on Tarte.com, Sephora.com, and Ulta.com. I couldn't find anything saying this was limited edition, so I'm guessing it is here to stay!
If you haven't gotten your hands on this palette, this would make a great present for yourself for the holidays!

Thanks for reading everyone! I hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know in the comment section below what you thought, and what other items you would like to see me review in the future. Also be sure to subscribe to my blog, so you don't miss out on future reviews, spoilers, and unboxings!
